Rosie O’Donnell is planning to come back to daytime television as host of a new syndicated talk show, according to a report.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show is being planned for a possible launch in fall of 2011, which is the same time that Oprah Winfrey’s long-running talk show will end.

The original Rosie O’Donnell Show premiered on June 10, 1996 and ran for six seasons garnering several Daytime Emmy Awards. Rosie ended the show at the height of its popularity in May 2002 to become a full-time mom.

While Rosie had enormous success back then, she also didn’t have the same amount of controversy attached to her name.

Rosie returned to television in September 2006 to co-host ‘The View’ and left within a year surrounded by controversary for her heated arguments with conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

O’Donnell is viewed by many now to be too opinionated to succeed for a wide audience.

She publicly acknowledged her sexual identity in 2002, presenting herself to the public as a “lesbian mother” and criticizing the impediments of the State of Florida, which prohibits gays adopt minors.
