Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana will head tomorrow in San Carlos de Bariloche, in Edelweiss Hotel, a special seminar on the SAC-D/Aquarius satellite mission.
There wiill participate members of the Cabinet and would be known in detail scientific functions that this new technology developed in our country will have.
The seminar will present the objectives and progress of the mission, and will be shown before its departure from Argentina.
It was informed to the media that “The satellite will travel for the completion of environmental testing at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) of Brazil, to be later released using the Delta II launcher from Vadenberg (United States) during the second half of this year. “
The Chancellor predicted that “this mission is of great strategic importance and demonstrates once more the capabilities of the Argentines,” because “will contribute to the understanding of ocean circulation, prediction of its changes, its effect on climate, water cycle and marine biology.”
He explained that “this technology will also achieve in discovering the relationship between environmental parameters with the biology and ecology, management and control of the main species of economic importance to fisheries; connect climatic variables and soil moisture monitoring of diseases such as Malaria, Hantavirus, Dengue and Chagas, and study the relationship between soil moisture and large-scale flood early warning. “
The Mission SAC-D/Aquarius was made by an associative cooperation between CONAE of Argentina and NASA of the United States and has as partners the space agencies of Brazil, Canada, France and Italy.
The seminar will be presented with U.S., French, Italians and Brazilian scientists, representatives from NASA, INVAP, the National Atomic Energy Commission (CONEA), CONICET, INTA, the National Weather Service, the Argentine Institute for Radio Astronomy (IAR ), and Optical Research Center.
In the same explanations about the objetives of the mission SAC-D/Aquarius will be given by CONAE Principal Investigators and NASA, Sandra Torrusio, and Gary Lagerloef.
For the technicians, will be headed by the Project Leader CONAE, Daniel Caruso, and NASA Project Manager, Amit Sen.
At the end of the presentations, they will move to INVAP-State-Society to observe the facilities and the satelite SAC-D.
